Openings
I choose openings so that I can make interesting and abstract photos. i like the tone outside the window and it reflects the mirror on to the peoples. The theme Openings inspires me because I can try to make it abstract and I can choose a lot of subjects to work with. I can make a mind map to come up with ideas to explore.
Lee Friedlander
Rinko Kawauchi.
In my opinion, the light in these photographs is interesting because it gives the mood of the scene. The texture is unique because the photograph feels like I could touch the surface. She is an art photographer. Her photos are different to Lee Friedlander's. Rinko Kawauchi's photographs have a different tone. The main theme is of nature and colour. She inspires me because I think her colours have power. I will respond to this by paying attention to colours when I take my photographs. I will use photoshop.
Shizuka Yokomizo
I searched this artist because he is really intertering and he is a legend because he is a inspires me.
I took photographs of the inside of the bottle. The photographs look abstract because some of the parts of the photographs are not recognisable. I zoomed into the bottle to take close up shots. This created a pattern. The foreground of the photograph is in focus because we can see the bottom of the bottle very sharp. The background is out of focus and very blurry. Focusing on the bottom of the bottle created an interesting frame. Because of all the photographs look similar, I decided to experiment with photoshop.
I use the camera to take pictures in the glass bottle and i went around then take pictures and i took this picture in photoshop and i took one picture in the ball court then i uploaded them in the Weebly in openings and i cut amany's eye then traced it on photoshop.
.I chose this exam theme because it might inspire you people and so you can follow my foot step and by taking nice pictures like put your camera in a glass botttle and it will look abstract.

KIRK CIPPERNS
Kirk Cipperns is an artist who goes take photos in the waterfall in London and go around the country and take abstract pictures and the opening pages.
Leap then Look Workshop
- What was the workshop about? What did you learn?
.in the workshop i changed the image usually in different colours like red or blue.
what went bad is in focus because of the rocks was so dark.
.i used the glass to block the rock take a picture and i zoom it too much.
which picture i used is kirk cipperns he is an artist he goes around the world to take a picture.
This pictures is about poems because is open because there water and nature like stone leaf trees and buildings and grass and mountains i learn in this subject because it inspires me because of the ocean and tress is called freedom
Openings
Firstly i went around the school looking for circular shapes. i had mixed depth and shallow space in the frame. there was different of tones and i went inside and outside so the light can be exposed more.
Photoshop experiment
I researched Lee Friedlander because it reflects the opening theme. Friedlander uses mirrors and frames as openings. I photographed the bottom of the glass bottle and framed it in away that i could substitute the bottom of the bottle using photoshop to add a different image. So, the bottom of the bottle would open on to a different image so it can frame better. For example, in the pictures above i layered the photograph of the bottle with the photograph of the light bulb. Then, I altered the colours using photoshop. The first photograph shows the bulb without modification. The second photograph is red so it looks like the bulb is hot. I don't think the third photograph works well because is not clear around the bulb. The fourth photograph is Blue and looks cold. My plan is to next experiment with different shapes in order to collage together different images.
I This is my second experiment with openings. I was holding the glass and took a picture. I cropped the bottom of the glass out and substituted it for the Thomas Tallis Design. When you look into the glass you see the logo. I experimented with different colours on photoshop developing the first experiment. I think it works well because you can see the Tallis logo clearly. I could have experimented more by taking my hand away. I used Lee Friedlander as a reference because I used reflections. The framing is a reference to Lee Friedlander. The glass makes the image blurry but the logo is in focus. The circular shape focuses on the logo too. The red photograph is the one I think works best because the colour of the Tallis logo matches with the red. I don't think the green ones worked well because it is very plain.
Ralph Gibson
I had used Ralph Gibson's photographs as inspiration as I like the black and white in the images. I think that black is very black and the white is really quite blinding white so there is contrast between the colour.I also like the way in which the images are framed. You cant see the whole bike you cant see whole of the bike but you see it just a bit of it, its cropped most of the image Its quite abstract and I can see mainly a series of lines and shapes. The use of texture is interesting and the patterns are very abstract. There are many repetitive lines and shapes like the circles. Ralph Gibson is a America he was born in LA
My response to Ralph Gibson's photographs:
My response to Ralph Gibson's photographs:
Ralph Gibson all images are black and white with really high contrast. I picked these images because I like the way that they have been framed, whilst they are openings they are not obvious as openings, they have been framed at different angles.
Final Selection
For this experiment, I explored my photos in Photoshop and I made the colours White and Black using the Black and White option in the Adjustment menu. I used Curves to increase the contrast. Then, I put them in a folder and uploaded them on to Weebly. I included screen shots of my process using Photoshop on the bottom of the page. The day had good natural light because it was not very sunny so the light was diffused.
I decided to use black and white because I was inspired by the black and white photographs of Ralph Gibson. I though that I could use this technique to develop my Openings project.
I used a bin hole, the wall, the wheel of a bike, the space under a bench and a window to frame the photographs. After choosing the best Black and White option to turn the colours from colour to black and white, I increased the contrast using curves. This made the highlights brighter and the shadows darker. Some photographs needed more additional contrast than others.
Black and white is more inspirational for me because they look like old photos. The photograph with the mirror as a frame, for example, gives an eerie and mysterious feeling because you can see the person with their back to the camera and all the photographs on the wall of the room.
In the second photograph, the wall divides the frame and it looks like the person is walking into "the other side."
Photograph six, shot through the space under a table, gives a ghostly impression because it shows the houses on the background.
